Campsie Glen

An area of great beauty, only open to visitors since the end of the 18th Century.

The Campsie Hills are extensive lava flows, formed 350m years ago. The Campsie Fault has uplifted sections, exposing the older sedimentary rocks beneath, creating spectacular scenery. From the slopes above the glen are great views along the Fault and south to the Kilpatrick Hills.

The village, Clachan of Campsie, is a designated conservation area and home to a number of retreats – well worth a wander.
